Dr. Chong is the Senior Consultant Physician (Internal Medicine) at the Singapore Medical Specialists Centre. He served as President of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) from 2009 to 2012, and now acts as the Director of SMA Pte Ltd and Chairman of the SMA Membership Committee. He is also Chairman of Council of the Confederation of Medical Associations of Asia and Oceania (CMAAO). Dr. Chong is truly passionate about both improving healthcare management for Singapore’s ageing population and advancing health technology and awareness for the next generation. As a result, he founded the medical analytics platform start-up Cura-Maker with Kien where he has applied his 20 years of experience in Internal Medicine in to designing a realistic questioning algorithm for the software’s diagnosis modules. He continues to use his domain expertise and network to further develop Cura-Maker and to advise other start-ups in the health industry. Dr Chong studied medicine at the prestigious NUS on a Public Service Commission scholarship. Furthermore, as Vice Chairperson of SMA’s Wine Appreciation Chapter, he is a firm advocate of a balanced lifestyle and is always happy to discuss the future of health innovation over a good drink. |

Nicole hails from one of Malaysia’s most successful real estate dynasties, with connections spanning industries and geographies. Originally from a mathematical background, she has navigated several industries; from working odd jobs waitressing and marketing for malls, to investment banking in Credit Suisse, she’s accumulated hands-on experience in both business management and finance. As a result, she has a fascination with technology that targets typically traditional sectors such as property and infrastructure, as well as consumer-facing operations. Nicole’s enthusiasm for start ups also stretches to health and lifestyle –an avid fitness fanatic and foodie, she holds a Personal Training Certification under the National Council of Sports and Fitness (NCSF), an internationally accredited organisation. She is a member of the CRIB Angels Club and is a firm believer of the power of female entrepreneurship while maintaining a balanced lifestyle which encompasses work, exercise, good nutrition and mental health. Nicole graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a First Class BSc Degree in Business Mathematics and Statistics. Meng Xiong (M.X.) has spent the past ten years as VP of Projects for Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts developing projects in China, India, London, Istanbul, Lhasa Tibet, Fiji, and Sri Lanka, and is also the Director of Gunung Madu Plantation Indonesia, and Kuok Investments (Singapore) Ltd. MX’s extensive experience and natural thirst for innovation constantly drives him to pursue novel ways to improve his many businesses. For Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, he developed skills training, scholarships, exchange programs and local stakeholder businesses to complement the operations and guests experiences of each destination; and as Director of Gunung Madu Plantation, MX seeks to advance agricultural practices with green cane harvesting, natural/biological pest control, and drone technology.
As an Angel Investor, MX has particular interests in energy saving and travel-related start-ups, with some of the more recognisable investments in his portfolio including Grab, Air BnB, iFlix and BeMyGuest. MX also serves as an Independent Director for Barghest Performance Pte Ltd, a leading energy efficiency technology solution provider, and as Senior Advisor to TPG Capital. Kien has been actively involved in investing for over 25 years. He’s made various venture investments, including in the biotech sector, and has led mergers and acquisition exercises for corporates and private investors across Asia, Australia and North America. Kien focuses on healthcare, hospitality and F&B, with experiences in founding, developing and commercialising products and services in these sectors. He is currently working on Cura Maker, a B2B medical analytics platform he co-founded that aims to digitise the basic interactions between patients and doctors, thereby increasing the value and efficiency of each engagement for both parties. Kien started his career as a corporate banker in Natwest Bank Australia before moving on to various roles in investment and corporate consulting, and equities research. He graduated from Monash University, Australia with a Bachelor of Economics, and then from the University of Chicago, USA with an MBA. When he’s not working on his start-up or reviewing pitch decks, Kien enjoys golfing, cooking and traveling. |

Ruth has been an advisor to application start-ups, discrete and process manufacturers for the past five years. She began her career on General Electric Company’s Manufacturing Management Program where she had assignments in GE Aviation, GE Energy and GE Calma. While at GE, Ruth was Development Engine Production Control Manager, Shop Floor Manager, Plant Manager and worked with GE’s first CAD/CAM venture in China. In 1987 Ruth joined Autodesk (ADSK) where she moved from WW Director of Marketing to the General Manager for AutoCAD Release 12. Ruth relocated to Singapore to head Autodesk Asia Pty Ltd for 4 years extensively growing market share and opening subsidiaries in ASEAN countries. A new challenge came her way when she was asked to head SAP India where she lived for four years. Ruth then moved back to Singapore to join Microsoft APAC Operations where she was the General Manager of Microsoft Business Solutions and finally, General Manager of Microsoft’s Customer and Partner Experience. Ruth hails from Boston, Massachusetts and attended the University of Colorado and the Harvard Business School. An avid scuba diver for 35 years, Ruth has been fortunate to have dove in many of the Coral Triangle’s most remote locations. |

Monica is the Group Deputy Managing Director of Ireka Corporation Bhd, as well as the Chief Financial Officer of Ireka Development Management Sdn Bhd. Her main roles are to develop and implement business direction for the whole Group, to manage and oversee resources effectively, and to review and evaluate business proposals, including potential investment ventures. Originally trained in accountancy, Monica joined Ireka as Group Financial Controller in 1993, and since then has been central to steering the group on a trajectory of growth and innovation over the years. She was the driving force behind a small, high-level team that led to the listing of Aseana Properties Limited on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in April 2007, a first for a Malaysian property developer. The USD162m raised has led the way for Ireka and Aseana Properties Limited to develop its brand and business interests both in Vietnam and in Malaysia, and today Ireka and Aseana Properties Limited have added a hospital in Vietnam, three hotels in Malaysia, shopping malls and more than 2,000 residential units in the Mont’ Kiara area of Kuala Lumpur to the Company’s portfolio. She is the winner of Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards Malaysia- Woman Entrepreneur Award 2015. Monica graduated from City University, London, England with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Accountancy and Economics. She is a fellow member of several institutes that include the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales; Chartered Accountants, Malaysia; and the Malaysian Institute of Taxation.
